Virtual Edible Book Festival 2020

It's time for the Second Annual Edible Book Festival at the University Libraries!

Our April 2020 plans were derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although it isn't over, we want to press on and offer this event in a virtual format. This time around, the festival will be entirely virtual. Submit your photos online, vote online, and see who won... online!

Kansas Notable Books

The Kansas Notable Books List is the annual recognition of 15
outstanding titles by Kansas authors or about Kansas. It is the only honor
for Kansas books by Kansans, highlighting our lively contemporary writing
community and encouraging readers to enjoy some of the best writing of
      the authors among us.

For more information about the award as well as this year's winners, be
sure to visit the State Library of Kansas's page for the award.

The State Library of Kansas provides a wide variety of databases and
services that anyone in Kansas freely has access to - and if you're a
Kansas resident, remember that you can always get a state library card at
                                                                                                 Ablah Library's Circulation desk!

This exhibit was displayed in Fall 2020. Dates: August 17 2020 to September 8, 2020

Women in Horror Month

Women in Horror Month (WiHM) is an international, grassroots initiative,
which encourages supporters to learn about and showcase the
underrepresented work of women in the horror industries. Whether they
are on the screen, behind the scenes, or contributing in their other various
artistic ways, it is clear that women love, appreciate, and contribute to the
horror genre. This inclusive and positive movement is open to everyone.
This year's exhibit, titled "Beautiful Monsters", features literary and academic
works about the creatures we love in horror fiction and film.

For more information, check out the Women in Horror Month LibGuide or the Women in Horror Month website.
