"Banned Books Week 2018 is September 23-29. It brings together the
entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists,
teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to
seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or
unpopular. The books featured during Banned Books Week have all been
targeted with removal or restricted in libraries and schools. By focusing on
efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned
Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship."

"Citizen Science Day is an annual event to celebrate and promote all
things citizen science: amazing discoveries, incredible volunteers,
hardworking practitioners, inspiring projects, and anything else
citizen science-related!
Citizen Science Day will kick-off on April 13th, 2019.
In 2016, the first year of Citizen Science Day celebrations, activities
kicked off with a major celebration at the USA National Science &
Engineering Festival in Washington, DC. A series of citizen science “open houses” and activities followed, organized locally by science centers, museums, libraries, universities and schools, and federal agencies around the US and beyond. The celebrations culminated with the U.S. National Parks Bioblitz, May 20-21, 2016." - https://www.citizenscience.org/events/citizen-science-day/
