Accessibility and Inclusiveness at University Libraries

University Libraries has collections and services for all students, faculty and staff.

Students with Children

Places to Study

Children with an adult supervisor are allowed on all floors of Ablah Library. Please be mindful of the study needs of those in your immediate area. The third floor is a quiet floor with rules about noise. See the Quiet (and not-so-quiet) Spaces page in the left column for more ideas for the perfect place for you and your child in Ablah Library.

Ablah Library has study rooms for 1-2 people and for small groups up to 8 people. A reservation is not required, but a reservation does guarantee a room. Reservations may be made at the time of arrival (depending on availability) up to one week in advance. See reservation link below.

Entertainment for Kids

Ablah Library has a children's book collection! Children's books use the PZ 5 and PZ 6 call numbers which are on the second floor in Ablah. The ESL web guide lists a few of these titles. Books may be checked out for four weeks and renewed. You can also just use them for the duration of your stay, but please do not reshelve the books you pull. There are book carts around the library to place books no longer being used and our student workers will make sure they get back to the right shelf.

Does your child have access to a Chromebook, phone or other device that could play streaming movies? If not, borrow a computer from the Circulation Desk and set up a streaming movie from Swank or other library database. See the On the Cheap! page in the left column for more information about playing streaming movies. Make sure the device is using the WSU Secure network as the Guest network will not allow access to WSU databases.
