University Libraries congratulates 2020 retirees
Four members of University Libraries announced their retirement at the conclusion of 2020. Together, they total nearly 120 years of experience helping push the success of library initiatives at Wichita State University. They are:
BETTY SHERWOOD, Interlibrary Loan Assistant - Borrowing, 36 years at Wichita State.
CONNIE BASQUEZ, Metadata Library Assistant, 33 years at Wichita State.
MARY WIRTHS, Interlibrary Loan Assistant - Lending, 28 years at Wichita State.
GEORGE CORBIN, Metadata Library Assistant, 20 years at Wichita State with an additional 22 years at Kansas State.
ABOVE: The large painting hanging over the open area on the main level of Ablah Library is taken down in early December 2020. Ulrich and library staff safely took the artwork down, which was then transported back to the campus museum.
MIDDLE: A painting from the Ulrich Museum of Art is installed in the University Libraries' Dean's Office in December 2020. The piece was one of three new paintings that replaced old ones from the museum's collection.

Ulrich Museum, library staff work to update Ablah art
Long-standing adornments on the interior walls of Ablah Library were replaced throughout December 2020. In conjunction with the Ulrich Museum of Art, library staff helped plan and replace art pieces along the main corridor of the facility, in the Dean's Office, and on the siding of the open platform separating the main level from the second level.
All artwork, both previous pieces in the library and new ones, are part of the Ulrich's collection.
New artwork pieces in the library are as follows:
"Rocks and Sea" by Waugh - Library Dean's Office
"Moonrise - Cape Cod" by Browne - Library main corridor
"Opposition with a Circle" by Roszak - Library main corridor
More replacement pieces for the library from the Ulrich are also planned.
