System & Services Status

EBSCO Outage Starting July 26th

Beginning Friday, July 26, 2024, most EBSCO products, including e-books and research databases, will experience a pause in the availability of new or updated content. All products and services, including EBSCOhost, will be accessible and available for use, but it may take up to 10 days to resume full content currency. For information on the impact, please review the information on EBSCO Connect available through this link

Classroom Presentation Boards May Present Playback Errors

Swank Motion Picture video streams require that the playback devices support Widevine Digital Rights Management (DRM).  Customers have reported that classroom presentation boards made by:

  • Promethean
  • Vivi*
  • ViewSonic ViewBoards
  • Newline**

...may not support the required DRM. This can occur when you are using the internal Android operating system on the presentation board.

We suggest using another device such as a laptop or desktop computer as a streaming source and using the external video input on the equipment to facilitate playback. This should bypass the internal operating system and use the board simply as a monitor.

If you are using a laptop and the output is still an issue or you are getting an HDCP error, you can change your monitor settings from "mirror" monitors to "extend" monitors, and drag the playback window to the external screen. This should allow playback without error.

* Users of Vivi systems report that video playback works through Vivi Screen Sharing, but not the Play Video feature.

** Users of Newline displays report that playback works when used with HDMI connected Chromebooks

Ongoing Issue

Please be advised that integrated Google Scholar access is still not functional off-campus. We recommend users go directly to Google Scholar, ( ) and connect to WSU Libraries (Link to instructions on how to connect to WSU libraries via Google Scholar)    Now that access has been restored, you can log in with your Shocker ID and password to connect to and view licensed resources.
