Use Guidelines

General Use Guidelines

  • The tables, chairs, and computers in the general space are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Depending on demand, a user may be asked to limit their time at the computer workstations to three hours.
  • No food or drinks in open containers of any kind are permitted in C-Space.
  • Be courteous to other library users, especially regarding noise and time limits.
  • Leave the area as found by discarding any trash, putting any unused materials away, and turning equipment off when required.
  • Adhere to the University Libraries’ Library Facilities Policy.
  • Respect copyright laws and licensing agreements.
  • Consult with the C-Space Help Desk Assistant on the availability of the equipment, services, and training.
  • The Sound Booth requires scheduling through the online reservation system. For more information, go to the Sound Booth tab on the left. 
  • To submit and schedule a 3D printing job, visit the C-Space Help Desk. For more information, go to the 3D Printing and Scanning tab on the left.
  • Failure to follow all general and computer use guidelines related to C-Space may result in loss of library privileges.

Computer Use Guidelines

  • Users must adhere to the University Libraries Computer Use and Networking Resources Policy and the Wichita State University Computing and Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Users will accept responsibility for the security of the information given on the web, such as personal information and credit card numbers.
  • Depending on demand, a user may be asked to limit their time at the computer workstations to three hours.
  • Computers with specialized software must be used only for their intended purposes.
  • If a computer is not working or you are having trouble with the equipment, please inform the C-Space Help Desk assistant.
  • It is the responsibility of the library users to delete and/or remove any of their files (digital or print) from library equipment in the C-Space. The library is not responsible for equipment or files (digital or print) left behind.
  • Temporary storage (on the desktop) is available for C-Space users. However, all equipment that contains storage capability will be erased upon return to library staff and once erased, data cannot be recovered. It is recommended that users erase all data before returning equipment to staff.
  • Users who wish to save their work must provide their own external storage devices and/or media.
  • Users will be respectful to the next person coming to use the C-Space. Save your work in a timely manner. Please note that larger files take longer to save. Any work saved on the library computer will be deleted once you are logged off and cannot be recovered.

Users will not:

  • Send or receive offensive, pornographic, or illegal information.
  • Use the University Libraries computers for illegal activities, lobbying, commercial purposes or funded research not affiliated with WSU or approved by WSU and KBOR “Conflict of Interest.”
  • Modify library hardware or software, including disabling anti-virus software, “jail breaking” devices; perform upgrades or updates without approval of library staff, or other misuse or mishandling of technological devices.

University Libraries will not:

  • Accept responsibility for damage to a user’s peripheral technology equipment (disks, USB drives, microphones, hard drives, etc.) or user’s computer, nor for the loss of data or information, nor for liability that occurs from the user’s use of the library’s connection or library software and/or hardware.
  • Assist library users in the transporting or transferring of supplies, equipment, or furniture to and from C-Space.
