The Advanced Development Zone is dedicated to prototype development. The zone is comprised of two high performance workstations, namely the CAD workstation and the Android/iOS app development workstation. The former is dedicated for CAD, simulation, and animation and the later is dedicated for application development.
Computers with specialized software must be used only for their intended purposes. The Advanced Development Zone workstations are restricted to users who require the benefit of a high performance machine for the successful completion of their project or learning assignment. Specialized software is available on these machines. (See workstation tabs for details.) Patrons are only to use these computers if they require such software for their project(s). Computers are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, but depending on demand, a user may be asked to limit their time at the computer workstations to three hours.

Android is a mobile operating system (OS) currently developed by Google, based on the Linux kernel and designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Android's user interface is based on direct manipulation, using touch gestures that loosely correspond to real-world actions, such as swiping, tapping and pinching, to manipulate on-screen objects, along with a virtual keyboard for text input. Android's source code is released by Google under open source licenses, although most Android devices ultimately ship with a combination of open source and proprietary software, including proprietary software required for accessing Google services.
