Equipment Lending

Library technology equipment available for general use and checkout .

Laptops/Chromebooks

  • Windows OS Laptops are available to check out to leave the library for three (3) days.
  • Chromebooks are available to check out to leave the library for seven (7) days.
  • Media equipment checkout has varying times, (please see individual item) and is limited to WSU students, staff and faculty. 

Laptops

Lenova 100 and Dell series laptops are available for checkout and use outside of Ablah Library for three (3) days.

Chromebooks use a Google sign in, however they can also be used in guest mode if you prefer not to sign in using your Google ID. 

Dell Chromebooks are a 2 in 1 Laptop to Tablet style and have a touch screen

  • There is no desktop; all items MUST be saved on a USB drive, SD card or in a Cloud service
  • Have ports for SD Cards, USB Drives and cables, HDMI and USB-C.
  • Check out with a charging cable and carrying case.  

Chromebooks are set to automatically log into WSU Guest Wi-Fi and have access to all databases from the University Libraries homepage. However, if you wish to switch to your WSU Secure account follow these steps:
Set Up WSU Secure Wi-Fi

  1. Look at the bottom right corner and click on the Wi-Fi symbol
  2. Once the window pops up select the settings symbols (looks like a sprocket).
  3. When the window pops up select the sideways triangle to the right of WSU Guest.
  4. A drop down list of available Wi-Fi connections will appear. Select the WSU Secure.
  5. In the EAP method select the dropdown arrow and select PEAP.
  6. In the EAP Phase 2 authentication select the dropdown arrow and select MSCHAPv2.
  7. In the Identity field, enter your WSU ID and enter your password in the password field.
  8. Select ‘Connect’

Set Up Off Campus Wi-Fi

  1. Look into the bottom right corner and click on the Wi-Fi symbol

  3. When the window pops up select the sideways triangle to the right of WSU Guest.
  4. A drop down list of available Wi-Fi connections will appear. Select your Wireless network and connect

**Be sure to sign out of Wi-Fi/Google Account and log off the Chromebook prior to returning it to the Circulation Desk. Do NOT put in book drop.**

Wired and Wireless Mice can be checked out for use with any laptop that has a USB port

Floppy Disc Drive

There are 5 floppy drives available for checkout .They can be checked out from the Circulation Desk for in-library use only for up to 4 hours.

A mini USB cord is required to connect the floppy drive to a PC (also available at Circulation). 

Ablah Library has three types of external disc drives available for a three (3) day checkout period. 

Apple USB Superdrive - This is only compatible with Apple computers
USB Disc Drive - Apple or PC
Pioneer Blue Ray Drive - Apple or PC
