Reference Sources (Encyclopedias, Dictionaries) on Communication History

These books provide background information on various topics in media and communications. There are many more available. For general background research outside of communications, refer to the General Reference Sources box on the left. Older reference sources (such as the two published in 1987 below) may include vocabulary or out of print newspaper titles, for example, needed for historical research.
