Linking with Persistent URLs in Blackboard

Adding a URL link to a licensed video in Blackboard so that students and faculty can access the video from off-campus requires the Blackboard EZ Proxy URL be added to the video's persistent URL.  This combined URL will allow the student to be recognized as an authorized user and prevent the student from having to login twice to access the video. For all videos in Academic Video Online and other Alexander Street videos, you will need to add the Blackboard proxy URL to the persistent URL before posting to Blackboard.

To find a persistent URL/permalink:

  • Click on the "Share" button in the toolbar at the top of the video playback display
  • Click on red "Copy Permalink" button.

  •
  • The persistent URL/permalink is https://video.alexanderstreet.com/watch/last-wild-chimps

To add the Blackboard EZ Proxy URL to the video's persistent URL:

  1. Paste the video URL (Including the https://) in the first text box below.
  2. Click the "create link" button and a link will be generated in the second box.
  3. Copy and paste the link in the second box into your Blackboard course. When you build Content, use "Web Link" for the video URL, not "Video".
