MUSC 113: Introduction to Music Studies

Sources

Consult additional resources on the WSU Libraries subject guide for MUSIC: http://libraries.wichita.edu/music or click here.

  • If you are not finding enough information about a song, look for information about the larger work it is contained in (where applicable), such as: the album, the opera, the song cycle, or  the musical.
  • You may need to add the composer's last name to your search for focus.
  • To search for a phrase, place the search terms in quotation marks (" ").
  • In databases, use the asterisk (*) to include all ending forms of the root of the term you are searching (ex. sonat* provides results for: sonata, sonaten, sonatas, and so forth).
  • You may (or may not) find it helpful to add a search term such as "reception," "impact," "reaction," or "criticism."
  • Do not use articles ('a,' 'the,' etc.) in your search string (ex. search for "Ballad of John and Yoko" NOT "The Ballad of John and Yoko)

If you having difficulties, ask for help!!!!!!!

Notice of 2/19/2024:

The Thurlow Lieurance collection of flutes has been removed from exhibition due to a new regulation implemented by the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The regulation requires:

"museums and federal agencies to obtain free, prior, and informed consent from lineal descendants, Tribes, or NHOs before allowing any exhibition of, access to, or research on human remains or cultural items."

The Lowell  D. Holmes Museum of Anthropology will not be displaying any Native American cultural artifacts until we have secured proper consent.
