The following databases feature tools and content for searching world news and relevant topics and can be filtered by location, source, date, media type, and more...

Look for links to "Hot Topics," "Special Reports," etc. for finding news on the topics of interest to you, then use filters to sort by date, regional source, narrower subjects, as needed.

Note that multiple databases should be searched for various local, national, and international sources and media.

Search the following databases for specific global issues that may be of interest to you:

Search the WSU Libraries' Online Catalog for more books and resources related to your topics and interests.

You may filter by books/ebooks, date, subject headings and title as well.  If you find a book that interests you - pay attention to the subject headings assigned to those books and then use those as keywords for searching the catalog:  for example - "gender identity united states," or "native american women culture," "african american biography," "working class united states biography" or "asian american experience united states," etc. [note: biography will include autobiographies.  You may also want to include "juvenile fiction" or other keywords depending on the literature you are interested in reading.]

You can also click on the "Call Number" listed for books and virtually browse the books on the shelves near the one you've found for other titles (if you are unable to browse the library shelves in-person!

Can't Find a Book or the Full Text of an Article?

 

Log in with your myWSU ID and password to request a copy of an article or book. Articles are emailed to you and requets can usually be filled within a couple of days. Books take 3-5 days on average and are sent to Ablah Library for you to pick up. It's free!
