Rubrics are a common method of assessing student learning. They are a flexible and timely way to measure student performance and provide immediate feedback. Rubrics work best when they are tied to learning outcomes and require students to demonstrate learning. When used as an assessment method in library instruction, rubrics should be shared with students and can be used as a communication tool for collaborating with faculty members.
