Library Teaching Toolkit

This site contains practical resources and tools for teaching librarians at Wichita State University Libraries.

Activities You Can Reuse

Worksheets

The handouts below can be downloaded and adapted for your classes. Feel free to upload your favorite worksheet or activities used for in-class assessment.

Concept Mapping Tools

Have students create a concept map of keywords or their research process. Most online tools allow maps to be saved or emailed. The finished concept map can help the student with their research and provide you with a ready-made assessment.

Authentic Assessment

Authentic assessment (sometimes called performance based assessment) requires students to demonstrate learning by performing a task that involves the skills covered in class. These assessment techniques show you, in real time, what students are actually learning. Authentic assessment techniques are particularly useful for students learning research skills that will be used acrosse the curriculum and concepts that provide the basis for life-long learning.

The resources below include examples that can be adapted for different classroom situations.
