In this introductory workshop for the Wichita State University Libraries, renowned geographer Dr. Joseph Kerski of Esri, the global market leader in GIS technology, introduces the fundamentals of GIS and tools such as ArcGIS Online. GIS, or Geographic Information Systems, is a framework to gather and analyze geospatial data. Using maps and 3-D models, it enables one to visualize geospatial data in fields such as geology, meteorology, political science, and history. Event date: September 10, 2021.

This workshop will introduce how to make interactive dynamic maps with ArcGIS Online in order to enhance your research and career pathway. Dr. Joseph Kerski, renowned geographer and education manager at ESRI, will present some of the fundamental tools of ArcGIS Online, an accessible platform for making digital maps with data from a variety of sources and academic fields. Mr. Mark Stewart and Dr. Joseph Kerski of Esri gave this public lecture in Ablah Library on March 24, 2022. Titled "Data, Dashboards, and Dynamic Maps: GIS Today and Tomorrow," the lecture serves as an overview of contemporary GIS technology.
