Other types of information sharing

The types of information you can share with other researchers is growing. These websites offer places to share computer code, conference information, presentation slides, videos, papers, and much more!

GitHub
GitHub is a social code sharing repository for open-source software. You can create your profile and place your own code in the repository so that you can get feedback from others. You can also "follow" other users, and  look at and work on their codes. GitHub provides a place for collaboration. 



Lanyrd
A conference sharing website. Lanyrd allows you to learn about and track conferences around the world. You can add conferences, workshops, unconferences, conventions and trade shows that you know about. If you make a presentation at a conference, you can upload your slides, audio files, videos and more to share with others. Click on the name of a conference to see how many people on the website are either attending or tracking the conference.



Slideshare
Slideshare allows you to upload slide presentations, videos, pdf's, webinars, Word documents, and infographics to share with other users. "Slideshare consists of more than 15 million uploads from individuals and organizations on topics ranging from technology and business to travel, health, and education." (Description from website). You can search Slideshare for presentations of interest to you. Statistics offered include number of views, likes on Facebook, number of tweets on Twitter, recommendations on Google+, and shares on LinkedIn.



SSRN (Social Science Research Network)
SSRN is a repository for social science research papers. Users can add their own papers to the database. SSRN tracks the number of abstract views and number of article downloads, and gives papers a download rank. Rankings for top articles, top authors, and top institutions are also provided.
