Finding Books to Read for Fun!

This workshop will introduce participants to useful online resources for finding book recommendations and tools for keeping track of what you've read

Instructions for accessing e-books

Instructions for accessing e-books available through the University Libraries:

These e-book titles are available through the EBSCO eBook Collection. Borrowing e-books is a bit more complicated than checking out print books. These are some of the limitations:

  • These e-books are limited to 1 user (so only one person can be reading the book at one time)
  • You can either read the book in your browser or download it as an EPUB file (some also allow you to download in PDF format)
  • In order to download a book (and "check it out"), you must create a free account with EBSCO.
  • You can download one of these e-books for up to 7 days (select between 1-7 days when downloading)
  • In order to open an EPUB file, you must have Adobe Digital Editions software, which is free and can be used on computers, tablets, or mobile devices.
  • After 7 days have passed, you will no longer be able to open the e-book file and read it.

Accessing e-books

1. In the catalog record for the e-book title you want to read, click the "Click here for electronic book" link.

2. At this point, you might be prompted to enter your WSU ID and password before you can access the e-book.

3. Once you are in the EBSCO e-book collection, you can either read the e-book in the browser or download it to read it offline.

Consult the EBSCO e-book user guide for more information.
