This class uses a hands-on project to guide first year students through the engineering design thinking process, a value-creation mindset and teamwork skills. Students collaborate with engineering professionals from industry. They demonstrate skills and knowledge by working in a collaborative team, assessing economic and societal impact, and participating in a formal project presentation.

Students will apply engineering design to produce solutions that address public health, safety, and welfare, global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors. The goal of the project is to create value in your community, while gaining teamwork skills and experience. Students will work in teams of three to four students and will have the opportunity to develop their own need-based project or select from a list of predetermined community needs projects.
