Browse by Call Number

• You can browse through the top levels of the Library of Congress Classification System as presented in Wikipedia.
  • History books are usually, but not always, in C, D, E and F. Find the subcategory you want to explore--for example, DQ--then look for call numbers starting with DQ in the library stacks (shelves).
  • A thorough explanation of how call numbers work.
  • Find out what floor your book is on (library floor map).
• Another strategy: once you've found a book on your topic in the library catalog (click for example) and on the shelf, look on the shelves nearby, or virtually browse the shelves by clicking on the call number in the catalog.

Search for Books at Other Libraries

• When you find a book you want, look for the blue button called Request Item Through Interlibrary Loan.
• This will take you to the ILL page where you can log in with your WSU ID.
  • You will only need to fill out your contact information the first time.
  • The next form should be filled out for you with the book's info.
  • Submit your request and you will get an email when the book is ready to be picked up at the library.
