FEDERAL: The Wichita State University Ablah Library became a Federal Depository Library (FDL) in 1901. The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) is a program established by the Government Publishing Office (GPO). It is one of more than 1300 libraries across the nation designated by Congress as a depository library. Federal depository libraries exist to make federal government information accessible to the public. Wichita State's collection is located in our Compact Shelving (closed stacks) with Maps located on the 3rd floor. All government documents are classed using the Superintendent of Documents Classification System (SuDoc). Please consult with the Government Documents or Reference staff if you need assistance. The Federal Depository Library Program Directory can be found at http://catalog.gpo.gov/fdlpdir/FDLPdir.jsp.
In 1991 the library also became a Patent and Trademark Depository Library (PTDL). The Patent and Trademark Depository Library Program (PTDLP) was established in 1871 to administer a nationwide network of public, state and academic libraries which 1) Disseminate Patent and Trademark Information, and 2) Support the Diverse Intellectual Property Needs of the Public. WSU's Ablah Library is the only PTDL in Kansas.
STATE, COUNTY, CITY: Ablah Library is also a depository for the State of Kansas. These materials are shelved with the main collection, and all have records in the online catalog. We also have the codes and many publications of Sedgwick County and the City of Wichita.
