This guide provides information on digital publishing, archiving and projects platforms and services available to the University researchers.

Scholarly Publishing in OJS: Open Journal Systems

The University Libraries provides the digital  publishing platform Open Journal Systems (OJS) for local journal publications from various groups and departments on WSU campus. This service is part of an open access initiative, making materials freely available to the public. To access WSU OJS visit https://journals.wichita.edu/ 

The OJS at Wichita State University Libraries hosts three electronic journals:

The Advanced Generalist: Social Work Research Journala peer reviewed student, practitioner, and faculty research journal has been published by School of Social Work in 2014-2016. 

Fairmount Folio: Journal of History, an annual student journal published by the Gamma Rho Chapter of the national history honorary, Phi Alpha Theta and the Department of History at Wichita State University.  The journal was founded in 1996. Faculty editor: Dr. Helen Handley. The journal has print and electronic editions.  Currently, OJS holding includes v.1 (1996) - v. 19 (2019). 

Kansas English s the peer-reviewed journal of the Kansas Association of Teachers of English (KATE). It publishes articles and materials on subjects of interest to English teachers, including scholarly articles, reflective/practitioner essays, opinion pieces, interviews, book reviews, and creative works (including photos and artwork). Editor: Dr. Katherine Cramer.

Libraries eJournal publishing services

University Libraries offer to the University's ejournal editors and authors:

  • A fully functional electronic journal publishing system hosted by the University Libraries
  • Consultations on creation / policies of a new journals
  • Consultations on workflow and other specifics with journal editors, including copyright and licensing
  • Submission to the system on behalf of authors and editors
  • Creation of metadata, about pages, etc.
  • Database maintenance, upgrade, and migration
  • Training on self-submission and editorial workflow on request
  • Partnering with WSU instructors on creation of student course journals

Authors are fully responsible for their works content. Journal issues and articles should be provided image ready.
