Almost everyone is online.  Employers are increasingly Googling potential employees.  What does your presence on the internet say about you?  As you think about searching for a job, think about how you look to someone who doesn't know you and is thinking about hiring you.  This page is designed to help you build a good strategy.

Some things to think about:

  • What is on your social media?
  • If you have profiles, are they full and complete?
  • Have you Googled yourself?
  • Do you have your own website and/or blog? What's on it?  Are you on LinkedIn?
  • Managing your social media presence is a key feature in being a professional.  Bosses and hiring managers often check social media and they will find the picture of you holding a beer.  Locking down your social media so it is not public is a good idea.  The best method for making sure that no one sees that picture is for you to not post it at all.  If it is on the internet, it can be found.
