Advanced Search Techniques

Advanced Search Techniques

This tutorial will show you how to get the most from our library databases by both expanding and refining your results to get the best sources for your topic.

We'll be using Academic Search Complete in this tutorial, but these same techniques will work in most library databases.

In this tutorial you will learn how to:

  • Expand a search by adding synonyms with the connector "OR"
  • Refine a search by adding additional keywords with the connector "AND"

Please note: Although this tutorial can be viewed on mobile devices and tablets, it displays best on computers and the quiz questions for this module are built into the tutorial.
