HathiTrust Digital Library

Not every work in the HathiTrust Digital Library is available for downloading. If you view "All Items" in your search results, you will often find works that are limited to bibliographic information only, i.e. Limited (search-only). When you do a Full-Text search from the home page, your search results will automatically default to "Full-View" works only.

While many "Full View" works are available for downloading without logging into HathiTrust, some items can only be downloaded by WSU faculty, staff, and students who have logged in. If you are unable to download an item, it is likely there are HathiTrust restrictions on downloading that particular work. Community users will see more restrictions than logged-in WSU faculty, staff, and students due to licensing and other issues. For example, many items can only be downloaded one page at a time -- rather than downloading the entire book at once -- if you are not logged in. 

HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND PRINT

When available for a book you are viewing, you may download a single page or an entire book by clicking on the 'Download this page (PDF)' or 'Download whole book (PDF)' link on the left-hand side of the page under "Get This Book". 

• Downloading a single page prompts the PDF to automatically open in a new tab in your web browser.  From there, you can save or print the page using the PDF menu.
• When downloading an entire book the system may take a moment to generate the PDF.  Once it is ready, click on the 'Download PDF' link.  You will be prompted to open or to save the file.

Once an item is downloaded to a PDF file, it can then be printed. There is no printing without downloading.
