ReferenceUSA 508 & W3C Compliance

508 Compliance Statement:

ReferenceUSA recognizes its responsibility to develop electronic and information technology (EIT) products and services that are accessible and usable by all people, including those with disabilities and special needs.

ReferenceUSA is committed to making its web content and services compliant with the accessibility standards of Section 508 (Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Standards). In accordance with Section 508(c), online content and services of ReferenceUSA are designed to comply with the applicable accessibility standards to the maximum extent practicable. We continually validate and audit most of our web content using a web accessibility validator tool called “Total Validator”. We support the efforts of the federal government and legislature to make electronic information products and web based products accessible to federal employees and the public.

W3C Compliance Statement:

ReferenceUSA recognizes its responsibility to develop electronic and information technology (EIT) products and services that are accessible and usable by all people, including those with disabilities and special needs.

Regarding conformance to the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.0 we are compliant with Level A and all Priority 1 checkpoints are satisfied.  Level Double A and Triple A are also supported in many cases but video content may not always contain closed caption / subtitle text.  As a general standard our development process ensures our code complies with web accessibility guidelines and the ReferenceUSA website is run through Total Validator at least once a year to audit/identify any missing alternate text.
