The Libraries provide access to streaming video through several subscription databases, available from the Databases page. These videos are licensed for academic use. Academic use means that instructors may show them in class as part of the curriculum when only officially enrolled students are present. Currently enrolled students and current employees may also watch these videos at home, with only family and friends present. They may not be shown at events that are open to all students unless the video's home page indicates that "public performance rights" or "PPR" is included.
The Libraries also license individual streaming videos for academic use at faculty request, as the budget allows. We can usually license a video through an existing partner, such as Swank or Kanopy, within a week. Licensing videos from other vendors may take more than a month, so please send requests well in advance of the date needed.
The George A. Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida has more information on copyright and streaming video.
