Identifying Companies within an Industry

If you need to find a list of companies in a particular industry, try using one of the following research databases. Most contain listings of companies by industry. They also contain company overviews (addresses, key executives, annual sales, number of employees), current news articles, company financials, and more.

If you're having trouble finding a profile through a company search, try looking on the company's website, or searching for articles about the company in Business Source Complete or in national newspapers (e.g. The New York Times) or regional newspapers (e.g. The Wichita Eagle).

Search on a NAICS or SIC code to see a list of all companies in an industry. Particularly good for publicly traded companies.

Search for a company in the main search box. Once in a company profile, click Companies with Similar Revenue at the top of the page.

1. Click on Business at the bottom left of the home screen
2. Select Create Company List
