Searching Tips

1. To locate an article in a scholarly journal, do a keyword search in one of the databases listed on this web site. Use an asterisk (*) as a truncation symbol in article databases to find all variations based on the root of a word. For example, "zambia*" will will find "zambia", "zambian", and "zambians". Examples of keyword search statements:
               bemba
               bemba and religio*
               shona or karanga
               (shona or karanga) and kinship
              

2. To locate an article in an anthropology encyclopedia, select one of the encyclopedias listed on the left and search by the name of the cultural group.

3. To locate a book ethnography, do a search in the WSU Online Catalog at http://libcat.wichita.edu. To truncate a term in the Online Catalog, use a "?". For more details on finding ethnographies, click on the "Books" tab in the upper left. Examples of keyword search statements include:
               bemba (also subject)
               bemba ethno?
               bemba religio?
