Assessment Overview

There is no right or wrong way to assess student learning and what works for one class, may not work for another. This section of the guide includes a variety of assessment methods that you can customize and use for your library instruction sessions.

Why Assess?

Purpose of Assessment - assessing your instruction should be purposeful and well thought out. Here are some potential reasons you may need/want to participate in assessment:

  • Improving student learning
  • Responding to calls for accountability
  • Participating in accreditation reviews
  • Information progmatic decision-making
  • Improving teaching skills
