Help Desks: Several public service points are available to assist library patrons. These points are located at the Circulation Desk, in the Reference Area, and at the Reserve Desk. Several other offices are also available to assist users with specific needs. These offices are located in Government Documents, Interlibrary Loan, and Special Collections.

Holds / Recalls: Holds and recalls can be placed on items that are currently checked out. When a hold is placed on an item, the patron requesting the item will be notified when the item is turned in. The patron who has the item checked out will retain the full circulation period but will not be allowed to renew the item. When a recall is placed on an item, the item may be given a new earlier due date and the patron requesting the item will be notified when it is checked in.

Lost & Found: Have you lost something in the library? Check at the Circulation Desk. Items that are turned in are kept behind the counter for one week, and then are taken to the Campus Police Department. Lost Shocker Cards are taken to the Shocker Card Center every few days.

Rush Processing: Records of newly acquired books and books that are on order are listed in the online catalog. These items will not have call numbers until they have been checked in and cataloged by Library staff. The status line will say "On Order" or "Copy Received." Patrons who wish to be notified when these items are available may request them at the Circulation Desk. Books with "Copy Received" status will generally be processed within three working days and placed on hold for the patron at the Circulation Desk. Books with "On Order" status will be processed as soon as the Library receives them; however, this could take several months, and patrons may wish to explore alternatives such as Interlibrary Loan.

Searches: Searches may be requested by patrons when library items that are not checked out cannot be found. Patrons should check the material's shelf location as well as the appropriate sorting area prior to requesting a search.

Shocker Card Encoding: A Card Value Center (CVC) is located at the entrance of the Reserve area. The CVC will allow you to add money to the stored value vending stripe (the thin one) on your Shocker Card. It will accept $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills but will not give you change. You may also write a check or use your debit or credit card to add value to your card at the Circulation desk. Checks must be written for the exact amount only. Please note that the vending stripe is not the same as a Shocker Dollar account. The Shocker Card Center has more information on how your Shocker Card can be used.

Smoking: Kansas Statute 21-4008 prohibits smoking in public buildings.

Study Hall Slips: Study Hall Slips are available at the Circulation Desk for student athletes and others who need to track time spent studying. The WSU Libraries does not monitor the activities of athletes while they are using the Library.
